OUR STORY
2020 will forever be etched in our history as a year of uncertainty and challenge. It was during this time that I was reminded of the African name INIKO, meaning “born during troubled times.” And so, our story began.
What started as a passion project has grown into a small business creating quality, handmade home décor. Over the years, we have refined our craft and built meaningful relationships with other artisans. Each of our pieces is a result of skilled hands, creative collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.
At the heart of our mission is a desire to empower women by sharing our skills and creating opportunities. These incredible crafts women are single mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and friends who work together in supporting themselves and their families. Many of these talented women come from under-resourced communities in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. But within them lies immense strength, resilience, and soul. These qualities shine through in every product we create together.

OUR PRODUCTS
Each of our products is lovingly handmade and can be custom-made to suit your preferred size and colour. We are deeply committed to sourcing only the finest yarns, we always prioritise the durability of the yarns and spend many hours testing materials to ensure they meet our high standards of comfort, performance, and environmental responsibility.
Our hand-crocheted ottomans feature removable, machine-washable covers, making them as practical as they are stylish. We use a chunky recycled cotton ribbon yarn that is incredibly soft to the touch, offering maximum comfort and a textured finish. For pieces intended for high-traffic areas or indoor/outdoor covered spaces, we turn to our eco twine yarn, a sturdier option that holds up beautifully over time.
For our luxury blanket collection, we use a premium acrylic-merino wool blend imported from Türkiye, a country renowned for its high-quality textile production. This yarn combines the softness and warmth of merino with the durability and easy-care benefits of acrylic, making it the perfect choice for our chunky blanket range.
Every piece we create adds depth, warmth, and texture to your space. Our products are designed not only to look beautiful, but to be lived with and loved for years to come.
